CPRM Teams up with their clients

Challenge:
Carlton Public Relations & Marketing (CPRM), a boutique firm in Lexington, Massachusetts, catering to startups, works with clients in vastly different fields. The companies have different business models, priorities, and needs. In this fast-moving world, CPRM policies need to remain nimble and produce results without disrupting their clients’ daily lives. That issue mirrored CPRM’s internal ones as well. Since the agency staff hires marketing and public relations professionals with a variety of skills and experience, they want to maintain a flexible, collaborative workplace. At CPRM, the team regularly creates documents and shares them internally and with their clients who use Google Drive, Dropbox, Office 365, and other platforms. The agency needed a flexible and customizable way to organize their files.

Getting the Lay of the Land

A Boston area commercial real estate broker modernized its IT operations in a two-phase project. The first phase moved all of the company’s operations from existing onsite terminal services to Office 365. Files that had previously been stored at multiple locations were consolidated onto a single SharePoint Online site. The migration created bit of an internal culture shock, especially for many of the company’s less-than tech-savvy workers. It was an issue that reached all the way into the executive suite. So Wellington Street Consulting was engaged to help the company learn how to get the most out of its new capabilities.

A New Year, New Tools

The challenges included: an unstable cloud-based email provider, multiple domains to be consolidated into a single o365 tenant, and DNS records hosted by multiple providers. In additional, there was geographic diversity with individual users spread out across the nation, each using different operating systems and email clients. The discovery process also uncovered several “mystery” mailboxes and a review of these allowed the team to eliminate them and save the agency from paying for them on an ongoing basis.
